# Record meetings

> Start, follow, and finish a meeting without adding a bot to the call.

## Start recording

Choose the path that matches the meeting:

* **Calendar event with a meeting link:** open the event note and click **Join & record**. Anarlog opens the call and starts listening.
* **In-person meeting or call already open:** open the event note and click **Record**.
* **Unscheduled conversation:** create a **New Note**, then click **Record**.

Anarlog records your microphone and system audio. It does not join the meeting as a participant.

<Warning>
  Make sure you have permission to record. Consent rules depend on where you and the other participants are located.
</Warning>

## During the meeting

Use **Memos** for your own notes. You can keep them rough: the generated summary uses the conversation and your memo as context.

Open **Transcript** to follow live text when your selected transcription model supports it. Models marked **After recording** process the audio when you stop.

If you enabled **Show floating bar** in **Settings → App**, you can control recording without keeping the full Anarlog window open.

## Finish the meeting

Click **Stop listening**. Anarlog saves the recording according to your retention setting, finishes the transcript, and creates a summary when an Intelligence model is configured.

You can resume a finished meeting from the same top-right control if the conversation continues.

## Use an existing recording

Create or open an empty note, click the **•••** menu, then choose **Upload audio** or **Upload transcript**.

See [Import audio or a transcript](/import-recordings) for supported formats and the complete flow.

For automatic start, meeting detection, and stop controls, see [Automate meeting capture](/automatic-capture).
