Choose the right build

On a Mac, open Apple menu → About This Mac if you do not know whether it uses an Apple or Intel chip.

macOS

  1. Download the DMG that matches your Mac.
  2. Open the DMG and move Anarlog to Applications.
  3. Open Anarlog and follow the setup screen.
  4. Allow microphone, system audio, and calendar access when you want to use those features.

Windows

  1. Download the Windows x64 installer or get Anarlog from Microsoft Store.
  2. For the direct download, run the EXE and follow the installer. Microsoft Store handles installation and updates automatically.
  3. Open Anarlog and complete setup.
  4. Allow microphone and system-audio access when prompted.

Linux

APT repository

On Debian, Ubuntu, or a compatible distribution, add Anarlog’s signed repository to get updates through APT:
APT verifies the repository metadata with the dedicated Anarlog archive key. New stable releases become available through the normal apt upgrade flow.

For an AppImage, make it executable and open it:
On Wayland with an NVIDIA GPU, if the window is black or only audio plays, launch with:

Current builds apply the DMA-BUF workaround automatically. Set the variables yourself only if a black window remains.

Arch Linux

Build the maintained anarlog-bin package with makepkg:
The PKGBUILD downloads the stable DEB for your architecture, verifies its checksum, and installs it through pacman.

Platform differences

  • Apple Calendar integration is available on macOS. Google Calendar works through your Anarlog account on every supported platform.
  • Soniqo, Apple Speech, and On-device file transcription require Apple Silicon. Apple Speech also appears only when a compatible Mac running macOS 26 reports the required system assets. On other systems, choose Anarlog Cloud or configure a supported transcription provider. See how to use on-device models and local models for hour-long calls.
  • Windows and Linux support are in beta. Include your operating system and Anarlog version when you report a platform-specific problem.
  • Anarlog does not currently offer a mobile app.

Nightly

Anarlog Nightly is an optional separate desktop app. Check the Nightly download page for availability. Your existing installation stays on stable; install Nightly only if you want frequent previews that may be less reliable. Nightly opens the same local notes database as stable, so your notes, transcripts, and meetings appear in both apps. Sign-in and app settings stay separate per app. Quit one app before opening the other: Anarlog does not open while the other app is running. Nightly can update the database format before stable does. Most changes stay compatible with stable. When a change is not, stable shows an update prompt and cannot open your notes until a stable release includes that change. Keep using Nightly until then. Your data is not modified by the older app. Nightly release notes are included in the app and its GitHub prerelease. Only stable changelogs appear on the Anarlog website. If you install the bundled CLI from Nightly, its command is anarlog-nightly; anarlog continues to use stable.
